MAG-comp

Magnetic compensation from calibration flight data.

Compensates for the influence of the carrier aircraft's magnetic field on scalar magnetometer readings in post-processing. Uses a mathematical model of magnetic deviation and synchronous data from a three-component fluxgate magnetometer.

Features

Main functions

Deviation modelThe model parameters are determined from calibration flight data at an altitude above 2000 m.
Scalar magnetometerThe deviation model is applied to total-field measurements.
Post-processingThe calculation is done after the flight using synchronous data from the three-component fluxgate magnetometer.
Data formatInput and output — ASCII XYZ.
Model components

Deviation sources accounted for

Permanent componentEngines and hard-magnetised parts.
Induced componentSoft-magnetised parts.
Eddy-current componentEddy currents in conductive parts of the fuselage.
Sensor and moving surfacesSensor's own deviation; influence of control surfaces and other moving surfaces.
